What is a virtual number?
A virtual number is a provider-supplied phone number used here to receive text messages — there is no physical SIM to install. You pick a service and country, and an available number is assigned to your order; otherwise the order may queue. If the service sends an SMS that reaches the number, it is shown in your order. A temporary number keeps your personal phone separate, but the destination service still decides whether it accepts virtual numbers and its sign-up rules still apply.
Because you are charged only when a code actually arrives, an unused number costs you nothing: if a platform rejects the number or no code is sent, the held amount is released back to your wallet automatically.
